Jenks, Oklahoma
The Jenks health and fitness initiative encourages students to develop healthy lifestyles through weekly wellness events and culminates in a 5K and 1 mile run called “How the West Was Run.” Each week, students have the opportunity to participate in organized fitness activities during recess, ranging from running to dancing to lunges. Guest speakers, like high school athletes, a nutritionist, and the school nurse, often participate in weekly wellness initiatives to inspire students to make healthy choices. Interactive hallway displays keep wellness in the front of students’ minds.
